Oggi’s October Beer of the Month

Did we scare you? Probably not, but Halloween is coming up. Children and adults decked out in costumes, horror movies, candy and beer (yes, beer!) make for a bone-chilling October.

This month’s selection, the Black Magic Stout, is the potion you need while you carve those jack-o-laterns. The Black Magic Stout is a full-bodied, dark brew that’s rich and malty with plenty of roasted barley character and has plenty of coffee, chocolate and roasted barley flavoring. Its four medals (Gold Medal 2010 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal 2006 Great American Beer Festival, Silver Medal 2005 Great American Beer Festival, and Bronze Medal 2004 World Beer Cup) speak volumes about the Black Magic’s hypnotizing qualities.

Go all out by pairing the Stout with our Heavyweight Pizza, and get ready for a fear and beer-filled month at Oggi’s!

Good times and great brews. Getting together.

Barrel Aged Black Magic Stout

Oggi’s second oak barrel aged beer, Black Magic Stout, will debut late this December! This full bodied dark brew is rich and malty with plenty of roasted barley character. This hearty stout is layered with flavors of roasted barely, chocolate and coffee.

Oggi’s Oak barrels provides flavor and aromatic support to the beer, while adding richer, fuller impressions and complexity. On the nose, oak’s primary influences tend to accentuate aromas that center around the spice rack, with clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and “allspice” being common aromas derived from a beer’s time spent in oak. On the palate, oak’s influence turns towards the rich flavors of caramel, coconut, vanilla, cinnamon, clove, smoke, tea, mocha and toffee.

Get a sneak peek of Oggi’s Barrel Aged Black Magic Stout, going into our custom made American Oak Whiskey and Bourbon style barrels for up to 6 months!

Good times and great brews. Getting together.

Oggi’s India Pale Lager

Oggi’s new featured beer, India Pale Lager, launches October 10th! Here is a sneak peek:

2-row malt and a combination of Weyermann malts create a nice straw color. This beer is fermented with Lager yeast at a cold temperature removing any signs of fruity esters that are normal in regular IPA’s. While this Lager is indeed heavily hopped, the bitterness isn’t over the top. The flavor is crisp with a hop punch that delivers plenty of bitterness across the taste buds. Floral and citrus notes dominate while the clean malt backbone keeps the flavor balanced. Lightly toasted grains and bready notes are perceived finishing with a nice hop bite on the palate. Oggi’s IPL is dry hopped on the cold side to maintain the clean style of a lager. It is very refreshing and hoppy. Cheers!
